ISSUES
We see the stories daily. People are worried about
health care in Ontario. Will it be available and affordable? The population ages and
need grows. Can the system reach its full potential in the 21st century and be the world's
best?
Government is re-making the system. Hospital restructuring was first.
Community care was to get more funds. Managed competition arrived. But serious gaps remain
in community care. Can people get the same services everywhere in the province? What about
staff shortages? Shouldn't professionals be paid equally in institutions and in the
community? Can profit be made in health care?
