AI Is Here. Is Community Care Ready?
Readiness, Risk, and the Future of Human-Centred Care

Dr. Zayna Khayat, Chief Program Officer, AMS Healthcare, Executive-in-Residence, Rotman School of Management
Will Falk, Executive-in-Residence, Rotman School of Management

AI is already changing healthcare, but community care faces a different challenge than hospitals or tech companies: how do we adopt this once in a century capacity expansion technology at a time when staff shortages are so constrained, without compromising the human connection at the heart of care? This dynamic plenary cuts through the hype to explore what AI readiness really means for home and community care organizations. From governance and workforce impact to ethics, trust, and operational risk, this session will challenge leaders to think critically about what comes next, and what’s at stake if the sector moves too slowly, or too fast. Expect candid discussion, practical insight, and a fresh perspective on how community care can shape how AI is designed and deployed, rather than simply react to it.

Dr. Zayna Khayat is Chief Program Officer at AMS Healthcare and Executive-in-Residence at Rotman School of Management, where she teaches AI in healthcare.
