Session Description
Home and community care organizations are facing unprecedented workforce pressures as demand for services grows, client needs become more complex, and staffing shortages continue to challenge service delivery. Building a resilient workforce is no longer simply a human resources priority, it is essential to maintaining quality care, operational stability, and the ability to support more people to age safely at home.
This session explores practical strategies organizations are using to strengthen workforce resilience, with a particular focus on the critical role of Personal Support Workers. Beginning with a brief overview of the workforce challenges affecting the sector, presenters will examine how heavy workloads, inconsistent training, safety concerns, and evolving service expectations influence organizational performance and continuity of care. An expert panel will then share real-world experiences from organizations across diverse communities, discussing the leadership decisions, operational trade-offs, and innovative approaches that are helping build more stable, supported, and sustainable teams. The discussion will also explore how standards such as CSA Z2000 (Dementia Inclusive Home and Community Care) and CSA Z2202 (Technology in Home and Community Care Settings) can serve as practical frameworks to strengthen workforce capacity, clarify roles, and support consistent, high-quality care.
Designed for senior leaders, executive directors, program managers, workforce planners, and operational leaders, this session offers practical insights that can be adapted across organizations of all sizes. Participants will leave with strategies to strengthen workforce stability, support frontline staff, improve operational resilience, and sustain high-quality home and community care in an increasingly complex environment.
